Toni Foulkes, a 15^th Ward resident for 39 years remembers how beautiful the community was when she was a 7 year old girl. Learning to ride a bicycle, jumping double-dutch, roller skating, playing softball in the street-using the sewer covers for bases and playing hopscotch (on the very  block where still she lives today) are some of her fondest memories .

In those days, the thought of taking cover to dodge bullets was never one of this little girl’s fears. It was the ideal community to live in, well kept lawns, no trash on the ground and

local businesses within walking distance of her home.

“During the past 35 years, prior to becoming Alderman, I watched things change and it broke my heart. When I was sworn in as Alderman in May 2007, I knew I couldn’t change everything that’s occurred in the past 35 years in just four years-but who says I couldn’t try. This is my home, my community, it’s personal!!”

Alderman Foulkes is a full-time Alderman who has no outside interest to distract her from her responsibilities to the 15^th Ward.

Lindblom Park & Hermitage Park Improvements! 

secured $250K in 2007 and an additional $100K in 2010.

• A new roof over the gym and lobby area.

• A new heating and air conditioning unit- to be completed in 2011.

$ secured $600K for a new water park, jungle gym and lighting-to be completed Summer 2011.
